Killing songs: The Journey
Frontiers seems to particularly like signing old members of star bands when
they do a solo album. So this time we get Kelly Keagy, former drummer of Night
Ranger.
The problem with this kind of solo work is that it sometimes tend, if not always,
to be very unoriginal. Some songs are pretty cool, interesting hooks and all,
but in the end there's a huge sense of "déjà vu" here.
So if you like (very) quiet melodic Hard-Rock stuff then maybe you'll be interested
by this release. Half of the release are ballads, so the overall is pretty calm,
maybe much too calm. I personally like the artcover and a couple of songs on
the album, but that's pretty much it. The production is nice, but I'm not sure
it would make any kind of difference even if it wasn't.
An album quickly forgotten after you've ejected it from your player. Unless
you're a die-hard fan of the style : I believe you can easily pass on this one
as the scene already contains so many good albums too waste time and money on
typical releases.
