Killing songs: As Long As The Raven Flies, The Sound Of Eight Hooves
The Vikings are back. Run for your life! The band from Sweden is unleashing a new monster with The Crusher. They play fast and melodic death metal in a typical swedish style. No time to rest on this album and it will feel like the "Crusher" is swinging his hammer right into your face song after song. The riffs are good but no always very original. That's the problem with this album, a big feeling of deja-vu, which is not attenuated by the fact that all songs sound a little bit the same. In fact the band sounds a little like a death-metal version of Running Wild. But like that band, they are very good at what they do and those ultrafast riffs make me want to forgive them for the lack of innovation. Lyrically, the band is inspired by their viking ancestors and their mythology. A theme that if not original, provides a endless source of inspiration. The sound of this record is warm and fat and each detail quite distinct, a perfect production done at the Abyss studio. So that's an excellent release you don't wanna miss!
