Killing songs: 10 songs - 10 melodic BOMBS !
Now that's what I call a pleasant surprise, other might call that a slap in
the face, both ways are fine with me. This band from Sweden play something in
between Melodic Hard Rock with True Metal elements, sometimes entire True Metal
songs or hymns. The first thing that strikes (like thunder ;)) is the production,
an enormous one for a brilliant crystal clear sound ! Really great job on the
production.
This album is a pure jewel and one of the big surprise of the year. The singer,
with his vocals reminding me a bit Firehouse, can pretty much sing any
way he likes and he is giving Supreme Majesty what most debut acts don't
have : an incredible singer ! I simply love his voice, full stop. The guitars
are simply majestic, from heavy riffs to melodic solos, everything is topnotch
! The keyboards also hold a very important place and add the ambiance to the
overall sound spectrum. The drummer is very good and for once the drums sound
is really loud and clear. Choruses are amongst the most melodic ones I've heard
since a long time, always preceded by excellent bridges. The formula is an old
one, but when it's played to the perfection like it's the case here : then the
result is a jewel debut album !
I must admit that when I've received this promo I thought : "Well, these
guys better be good to back up such a band name". Well, Supreme Majesty
are exactly what their band name is claiming, and maybe even more ! For all
fans of melodic music, from Edguy to Stratovarius, this one has
been made just for you. Buy-or-die ! Congratulations, amongst the best debut
albums this year after Lost Horizon (who said Sweden rules ?) !
