Killing songs: No real killing song ... but what a killing tempo my friends !!!
Diabolic was formed in January 1997 with the intent
of becoming a death metal leader. After their first live
show done in February 1997 in Tampa with Vader, Broken
Hope and Monstrosity, Diabolic earned
the respect in the death metal capitol.
In June 1997, the City Of The Dead demo was unleashed
upon the worldwide underground and is still described today
as an hyperblasting assault. This demo has been reviewed
as one of the "best death metal demo ever" and
Diabolic re-released this jewel in a mid format and
added two never released tracks recorded back in the demo
days. Conquest Music signed Diabolic in Feb' 1998
and released their debut Supreme Evil.
This Subterraneal Magnitude is the second full length
album and was record in June 2000 at Greenhouse FX studios
in Tampa (where else do you record US death metal ?). As
for their first shot, this one is full of screaming guitars,
howling vocals ranging from demonic lows to soul-ripping
high screams of defiance, insane hyper-blast drumwork with
scorching double-kicks, dark and powerful lyrics. However,
I think the production could have been just a bit better
as the sound is "trapped" for my taste.
Except this little detail, if you are fan of Florida death
metal ... this Subterraneal Magnitude awaits you.
If you don't like death metal , why the hell are you reading
this review ;-))
