Killing songs: What Do You Want , Before The Night Is Over, Down The Boulevard.
Yet another Hard Rock release. Far from complaining don't you worry :), it's
just that I didn't anticipated so many releases these days. And this one is
a good one too.
Soul Doctor plays a Hard Rock charged with Rock'n'Roll feeling with
many influences like Firehouse, Bonfire, Bon Jovi or even
KISS. Nice catchy songs, with some bluesy moments (not too many hopefully).
Sometimes it really sound like Bon Jovi like in You're All That I
Want. This is mainly because the singer have a voice that reminds me Bon
Jovi a lot actually ! So there are some good riffs, good solos, great vocals
and all that being delivered with a top production and a crystal clear sound.
Unfortunately this release suffers the same problem than most of in this category
: lack of originality ! But maybe it's just that we've heard this sound so much
than we believe that it ain't original... I don't know, it could be a nice subject
of discussion (so don't hesitate to add you comment !). I think this style (Hard-Rock)
is one of the oldest in Metal, so therefore have seen countless releases see
the day and might just as well have it's limits originality-wise. I mean otherwise
why else would we call it 80's Hard Rock most of the time ?
So, another very cool Hard-Rock release (with no boring moments) to add into
my collection and I ain't the one complaining, since Hard Rock is my favorite
style after True/Power and Melodic Death... and it feels good to put your mind
at ease sometimes, don't you think so ? If you like the above mentioned bands
: then you'd better check out Soul Doctor (who will play at Wacken by
the way).
