I met Stéphane Forté, solo guitar player and main composer of
this project 2 years ago at a Stratovarius Live show in Paris. And already people
had told me that this young gifted was soon to release big things. Well, I must
admit that the predictions were right as this album is immediately joining the
best of the style. Choruses remind me Symphony X, like the very long
and epic Seven Lands Of Sins. But the overall ambiance is brought by
Stéphane's prowess (which could painlessly rival with Yngwie Malmsteen)
!
The vocals of David Readman (Pink Cream 69 singer) are really superb
and choruses like In Nomine or Second Sight stay carved in your
head after the first listen. There's also an excellent cover of Led Zepplin'
Immigrant Song. French bands in general are used to criticism, and only
a selected few made it to the international scene, but Adagio represents much
more than a simple hope.
I have no doubts that when the five members of this exceptional band will go
on tour, they'll conquer the European public. So there's little more for me
to do than wish them long life and if you didn't already, I suggest you
go get their album.
