Killing songs: Dance With The Devil, Back Attack, User Of Poison
The "melodic" thrash metal I was waiting for some months
now ... but I didn't expect it could be written by Raise Hell. Following
their first impressive debut album (Holy Target, bombastic black/death
metal) I am really surprised with this change of direction. OK the speed
of music is still here, but thrash influence have taken the place of
black / death tempo. Holy Target was interesting for a first
album, but with any doubt this one is much more mature and also much
more personal including this time mid-tempo songs.
Not Dead Yet could be described as In Flames meets Destruction (just
to give you the idea of course). Once you will have listen to Dance
With The Devil (1st song), I am sure you will agree on this comparison.
The devil himself must have possessed these musicians. You will discover
nine extremely catchy (In Flames style) and grimly rockets-songs. When
I told you I was waiting for this one for some months now, I meant this
is the logical direction for modern thrash metal. Old-school thrash
will always stay in our heart, but Raise Hell is showing the direction
with this wonderful Not dead yet. Yes they are right, thrash
is not dead yet. And here we are talking about music and not about fashion
or cycle. A must for all thrash metal fan.
