Killing songs: 165 Bpm
We are a little bit late on that one, but as we say in French, better
late than never.
The label baptizes Mortalia's music as a "Cosmic Odyssey
Metal" experience. Well, why not ? However, considering each of
us associates or reacts differently when it comes to words, I prefer
to say Mortalia plays atmospheric metal and is very influenced
by Lacuna Coil and The Gathering.
Cosmic feelings are actually generated by the samples and the arrangements
on the vocals. I have to admit that your soul fly with Nacked Warrior
and I can easily imagine these guys are fans of Paradise Lost
or Pink Floyd, without forgetting Sentenced (song's arrangement).
However, the overall is heavy and quite fast for an atmospheric metal
band.
No weak songs, no boring moments, excellent melodies (whoaw!!!) ....
well a nice surprise coming from the atmospheric metal scene. Small
detail here : the sound could have been much better as the production
is far to be crystal clear.
Antje Dieckmann (vocalist) reminds me so much Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna
Coil's vocalist). If you like the last Lacuna Coil (Unleashed
Memories) don't miss this one as the song-writing is really mature
and the listener goes from surprising breaks to wonderful chorus. Otherwise,
check before.
"...As the time flows towards present, future and past, all
unique passengers search for the last secrets. We are strangers from
the past. Hidden behind, hidden behind and everything lasts ...",
Mortalia.
