To pass the time for Tygers Of Pan Tang's new coming
album Mystical I am doing this review. All this because
I've seen them live in 1982 and it was one of my best live
gig ever.
So this Live At Nottingham Rock City brings us back
to spring 1981 catching the bands stage performance with
the following line up: Robb Weir (founder member of the
band) and John Sykes (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake, Blue Murder)
on guitars, Rocky on bass, Brian Dick on the drums and Jon
Deverill on vocals which is for me the best singer the band
ever had. So this is maybe the very best line up of the
Tygers Of Pan Tang.
It is some kind of a challenge to release this live cd
20 years after, because I don't know if there will be many
people out there (still) waiting for this. The sound isn't
that good and at last but not at least the hole band except
John Sykes was sick this day. The doctor advised them not
to go on stage but once rock'n'roll is in your soul it is
even stronger than whatever the crap that might be in your
blood, so the band played the show and the result is not
that convincing. Jon 's voice isn't as good as on album
because of its throat infection. He gave everything he could
during the show. Just one thing I'd like to say is he should
have stayed himself on old Tygers songs because he
tried to imitate Jess Cox's (the band's first singer) voice.
Anyway you've got all the big classics from the album Spellbound
and the ones from the first line up of the band. So
this is a masterpiece for collectors or even for big fans
of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal.
So if don't have any Silver And Gold and you're Hellbound
just Take It from your favorite shop...
