Killing songs: Big Fat Mama, Caroline, Bye Bye Johnny, Rain, Is There A Better Way
Oh my God! I don’t believe what I see! I had totally forget it! It was
lost in my records library, far from my eyes and my heart. Memory still remains…
this live album with an electric band’s intro… The live album that
someone must have in his library or take on a desert island. Hundred minutes
of happiness. All my youth…
Jesus ! I thought I felt so old. 25 years ago this incredible double live album
had been recorded on the 27th and 29th October 1976 in Apollo Theater at Glasgow.
Nothing similar with the actual metal but it makes me happy to feel the spirit
of the end of the seventies again. The hard boogie spread his wings… the
bridge between the 70’s and the 80’s. A really great period.
In the original formation, John Coghlan, Francis Rossi, Richard Parfitt and
Alan Lancaster do what they do the best: they play Status Quo. Lewis,
baskets, long hair, beer, guitars, bass and drums. No overdubs, no sampling.
Just a binary tempo, sweat, energy and an evident pleasure to play. Let’s
party !
Some of you say: “Status Quo always plays the same!”. I don’t
care! Move on! Every concert is sold out, people jump and dance during all the
show, again, again and again ! Viva La Fiesta! They are here for the party not
for an instrumental and technical demonstration! Let the tempo guide the beat
of your heart. Don’t have any prejudice against the band. Forget your neighbors
and play it LOUD! Don’t miss this extraordinary experience. Welcome on
board to the time machine… No need to say more about it.
“Hey honey, could you tell me where are my Lewis and baskets?”...
I'll be back !
