Chris:
Killing songs: All
After the unbelievable Tyranny, everyone was asking themselves if the
Americans Shadow Gallery would be able to but the bet higher. After a
few listens of Legacy I don't think that it is the case...
Nevertheless this album is an excellent one and if Tyranny had never
existed then this one could very much be a masterpiece of its genre. But the
magic present on Tyranny isn't here anymore. Of course the songwriting
is very good and Mike Baker's voice still is the same charismatic one. The long
song that ends the record called First Light (34'18 !!!) is very mature
and technically impressive. But this is not X-Japan or Dream Theater
we are talking about here and the 4 minutes gab between the 24th minute to the
28th wasn't really indispensible... A concept album might have been a better
idea...
Anyway, Legacy still is a superb progressive album and without any doubt
the best since the beginning of the year. For all fans of the genre and even
others...
