Killing songs: Corpsecry - Angelfall, Scarlet Dream
Take a big dose of black metal, a dose of the eighties (some thrash
and some heavy guitars for example) a dose of jazz (yes jazz and God
knows I hate jazz !!!!), a dash of pop and ultimately don't forget the
70's. Of course when you read this, you go straight to the WC, sit on
your knees and vomit your last couple of beers.
In fact, instead reading it, you should listen to it, because as strange
as it could sounds, this is good stuff. The vocals are typically black
metal oriented (no surprise at all here) and the guitars solos reminds
you the Swedish death scene. Now, if you are a fan of Samael
and you tell me Sigh use sounds coming straight from the 70's
(thanks to the samples) to hide their direct influences .... I rather
say you are right.
Now let's be clear here : Sigh's song-writing is excellent and
even though this band belongs to the black metal scene, I have to admit
their sound is very interesting and this Imaginary Sonicscape
is as good as fresh air in the middle of Los Angeles.
Since their inception in April 1989, Sigh has released four full-length
albums. This trio is coming from Japan and to make a story short, their
music is a bizarre extreme music world.
I won't say Sigh have invented the powder here, but they prove
once again that metal can be mixed with almost everything, without selling
its soul and spirit to the devil. This is the force of the metal, this
is why we love metal so much !!!
Totally psychedelic ? Hell yes ! Schizophrenic ? That's the least I
can say. Crazy ? Yes again.
A buyer ? That's the good question.
