Killing songs: All of them
Nevermore is a band coming from Seattle. Yes, the Grunge city. But
this city is also the home of Nevermore and their charismatic and powerful
singer Warrel Dane. Arising like a phoenix out of the ashes of Sanctuary
(a long time ago), Dane founded Nevermore together with Jeff Loomis
(guitarist) and Jim Sheppard (bass). Shortly afterwards drummer Van
Williams joined in as well. After the remarkable The Politics of
Ecstacy - album, (Tim Calvert, Ex-Forbidden, second guitar replaced
Pat O’Brien ... left the band to join Cannibal Corpse) completed Nevermore's
line-up in 1997. Two years later, Dreaming Neon Black exploded
our metal faces. This band had simply brought a new metal sound &
spirit. So if you don't know them and would like to know how they sound
... they sound like Nevermore.
This new full album was awaited like a messiah .... and this Dead
Heart In A Dead World proves again that this band is one of the
best metal bands on this planet. Here again Nevermore is giving the
entire metal-scene a decisive kick in the a...! What a lesson of perfection.
Ah those Americans, they really know how to play heavy music. Nevermore
will fascinate you (...or call yourself deaf) and the voice of Dane's
is simply outstanding. This time Tim Calvert is gone, but the four remaining
musicians seems to have even more air to breath, more place to express
their feelings. I can't really go in depth song by song, but the emotion
of this Dead Heart In A Dead World is ... simply amazing. Thrash
and Heavy !!!
The listener goes from surprises to surprises, from the first track
to the last one and this time if Nevermore doesn't explode the charts,
something is going wrong here. This band will play a big role sooner
or later (remember first three Metallica albums .... yyyyeah you understand
what I mean). This record is already a classic in the history of heavy/thrash
and will be for sure a major influence for dozen of new bands to come.
Buy it ... or be ignorant forever !!!
