Killing songs: Bloast, Out The Window, DamNation, Absordeb
Third Hades record with Metal Blade and this is by any
doubt their best work so far. Fast, heavier, direct and
melodic, Damnation follow the pure heavy metal tradition.
Coming from New Jersey's, Hades plays US heavy metal.
I am really impressed by Alan Teccio (vocals) who sings
like Bruce Dickinson, but you can feel in his vocals he
is angry. Overall, DamNation is composed of fast
songs like Bloast, Out The Window, DamNation or Absorbed
and mid-tempo songs like Force Quite & Bad Vibration
that remind me Cathedral.
Guitar riffs and solos are excellent and reminds me also
Iron Maiden from time to time. Hades plays a much heavier
metal compare to the famous UK heavy metal band. The guitar
sound is really heavy and California Song & Bad Vibrations
look deeply in the direction of Black Sabbath, heaviness
speaking.
The production is good, with Alan Teccio’s voice dominating
the songs and being in front of the other instruments. Fans
of the band will like it and if you don't know this band
and listen usually to heavy stuff, check this Damnation.
Last but not least, when asked, "Is the title and
the burning US flag on the cover of Damnation anti-American?",
Lorenzo countered with : "I love America but after
O.J., Monica and Clinton's pardons, I think it's safe to
say as a country we could make a hell of a lot of improvements".
Tecchio had this to say about Damnation, "I
am sure we'll get some flack for the burning flag, but it
symbolizes how many of us are symbolically burning our own
country to the ground by talking it for granted. It's not
all our fault though. The lumps beneath the flag represents
the many coverups inherent in American politics".
