Killing songs: Different Worlds - Different Times !!!!
Life is sometimes funny, don't you think. As we were going to see
Saxon, I was very lucky to discover a new band. In fact,
Nocturnal Rites, Wolf and Evidence One were
also playing that night. Initially, Wolf was supposed to
act after Evidence One, but it happen the other way around.
Don't ask me why ? That's were luck plays its role as we have missed
the first band ... due to heavy traffic.
Immediately, I am scorched by the sound, the melody, the catchy
music of Evidence One. The first band that appears in my
mind as I am "eating" Evidence One with my eyes
is ... King Kobra. One song after another my heart is conquered.
I run to the merchandising desk where I asked to buy their CD. The
answer came like a fly on a soup : "We don't sell CDs of
the opening acts". Shit :(
I will have to wait another 7 days to finally find Criticize
The Truth. As I hit the play button, I know this album rocks
because what I saw on stage was so good ... that the studio version
of these songs can only be better. And God they are !!!
Criticize The Truth opens the record, with the warm vocals
of Carsten reminding me the live show. The singer was impressive
on stage ... so is he on the record. Trust Vs. Heart is another
wonderful piece of melodic hard rock and the third track - Different
Worlds - Different Times - is a magnificent song with a catchy
chorus that enters in your brain in no time and stays there forever
- that's actually the song I was singing after the show. Magic !!!
And it continues just after with a Helloweenish opening solo on
Like Never Before - the fastest track of the album. This
track once again highlights the voice of Carsten, who plays a major
role in the band (co-writer). There is no doubt that the originality
of this melodic hard rock band comes from their singer. Two thumbs
up man, two thumbs up !!! Frozen In Time, Perfect Love,
Fool's Gold, etc, etc. All top notch tracks !!!
If you like Bonfire, Bon Jovi, Fair Warning,
Scorpions, Gotthard, Def Leppard and of course King Kobra,
I highly suggest to check this Criticize The Truth. You might
fall in love with this one ... as I did.
A wonderful surprise ... coming from nowhere. Actually, it's coming
from Germany :)
