Killing songs: Dark Tower, Mark Of The Usurper, Corruption Within
On the international progressive rock scene, Queensryche & Dream
Theater still appears to be the bands by which all others are measured.
The British formation Shadow Keep (strongly influenced by Crimson Glory
& Queensryche) is one of these "new" band ... trying to
bring their own touch, their own melodies to the metal scene. More powerful
compare to the above mentioned bands, I have to admit that this band
has been much more influenced by Queensryche's song Queen Of The
Reich (covered at the end of this record , hidden track) than their
whole discography.
With a vocalist like Roghe M., whose high, crystal clear voice reminds
the listener of Geoff Tate or of Crimson Clory's unforgettable Midnight,
Shadow Keep will immediately sound to you as a "Queensryche's copy"
... and I will agree on that if you listen to this Corruption Within
only one time. However, if you take the time to listen to this wonderful
album, you will discover great songs, powerful riffs here and there,
and even though the vocals are "not new", this singer is simply
phenomenal.
If you are missing one of the best ever song of Queensryche (Queen
Of The Reich), you will discover in Corruption Within 11
tracks ... which continue the path open by Queenryche 15 years ago.
Nothing new here ... but songs are really cool.
