Killing songs: 16 songs, 16 hits !!!
Classics ... or "Best Of" I guess. I only know
this band by their name. This is my first ever Warrior Soul record
(sorry :-) ) and I have really appreciate it. Ok it is a best of and
almost all best of are good records ... as long as you appreciate
the music style of the band.
Somehow this New-York's band sounds like a neo-metal Motley Crüe
for me; their guitar's sound, their bass rhythm, the vocalist explains
this. They play a rock'n'roll music and they have almost invented
these typical neo-metal sounds (aggressive vocals here and there,
guitar effects,...). Warrior Soul has been "killed" by the
grunge, but I understand now why this band has influenced so many
other neo-metal bands (who said Korn?).
Imagine a rock'n'roll played the heavy way, very melodic and where
guitars are used to accentuate even more this "heavy feeling".
On some songs, the Kiss' influence is really evident; I guess it is
a typical New-York ... feeling. At the end of this great best of (16
songs taken from their five albums), I was wondering how I could have
missed this band?
Fans of Warrior Soul will like this one, even thought their is no
bonus tracks, live songs or unreleased songs ... but those songs have
been totally "re-recorded" by the original lineup, who is
back to the roots and will kick some ass in a very near future!!!
If you don't know Warrior Soul, this Classics is an excellent
start point (first three Warrior Soul records are : Last Decade
Century, Drugs God And The New Republic, Salutations From The Ghetto
Nation and I am going to have a look at these one immediately).
A must for all neo-metal out there who like rock'n'roll.What a f**cking
great Best Of !!!
