Killing songs: That's actually a good question !?!
Well well, I personally never heard of that band before. They play an electronic
Gothic Metal which is quite uninteresting to say the least.
Basically the keyboard is ever-present and in front of the sound spectrum (if there is such a thing),
with some nice riffs and electronic melodies in the back. The overall doesn't
sound so metal, except for the riffs maybe, but the big problem here is not
the music itself (although unoriginal as hell) but more the singer. He's not bad
really, but his accent is very very pronounced, and on some sentence it's difficult
not to laugh. The lyrics also sound weird, although I cannot figure out half
of it due to the accent of the singer. What's for sure is that you must love
keyboards and electronic stuff to appreciate Nude, cause the keyboards
are more present than the guitars which are just here to play a few riffs in
the back and put a "metal" label to the band. The choirs are a bit
clumsy and should have been avoided too.
The songs are very flat, probably due to the singer who sings always in the
same tone, barely singing actually, more like talking on the songs. There's no real
hook to them, the song sound like already heard before, but with better vocals
and better song writing too :). In the end the band doesn't display anything new, except some overused
keyboard work maybe. So in the end the problem is that I find this album very
boring, it's always the same tone, the same structures, the same riffs, the
same accent.... etc etc. Like one long, quickly boring song. Actually I think
that after 3 listens of that album I've really earned some chocolate or any
kind of reward :).
There are lots of excellent Gothic acts out there, that are far more original
and far more interesting than this band. Of course if you need to get all Gothic
bands out there, you can probably find worse than Nude, but I fail to see
the edge on this band, maybe with a more varied song-writing, intelligible lyrics
and more life like vocals, then only maybe...
