Killing songs: Bleed For The Godz
Powergod didn't invented anything for sure, but
what they do, they do it well. And on this album, they didn't
invented anything at all : they play only covers, and they
do it also well. Only by the title you understand what it
means when Germans give you a lesson in metal: you'd better
take out and open up your notice book ...
When I first looked at the bands names and songs, I said
to myself that I wasn't the only one who was listening to
all these thrash and speed or heavy metal bands in the 80's.
Some others did and still do !!!!!
Some of the bands Powergod are covering don't exist
anymore and it is a great tribute and respect for them having
chosen them. Let's say that most are US or European bands
that have influenced the arrival of power metal. Powergod
wasn't interested by covering bands from the NWOBHM,
because they weren't really their roots. They didn't want
to take the easiest way by covering bands like Metallica,
Iron Maiden or Judas Priest.
Every song of this 16 "tribute album" song is
boosted to the max and some of them are pretty good. Well,
except the cover of Stars from Hear'n'Aid which was
an all-stars-project against AIDS by the time. This one
really sounds awful !!!!! But the rest is pretty ok and
I really like their approach on this project. So the week
point on this cd is the voice because the singer always
tries to cover the original singer on each song and that's
impossible for sure.
There are a bunch of guests on this tribute album such
as: Doro (ex Warlock), Sabina Clasen (Holy Moses),
Rob Rock (ex Joshua), Juan Garcia and Berni Versailles
(Agent Steel), Manni Schmidt (Grave Digger)
and Sir Pommes (Randalica).
We will see when their calendar tells us it's time to Bleed
For The Godz. So we will wait for the second bleeding !!!!!
Hey there will be a second lesson ...
