Beyond Abilities

Well well well, second album for the talented (who said master ?) keyboard player from Children Of Bodom. To put things straight, the guy is so impressive, that I sometimes loose track and stop following him, he's so fast yet so melodic, that his keys can easily be mistaken for guitar solos. Precision, accuracy, speed, power and melody. These are the other words you can use when you speak about Warmen. The second album follows the logical continuation of the first one. It also mixes instrumental tracks with a few songs with special guests. Once again amongst the guests you can find Kimberly Goss (Sinergy), but also the mighty Timo Kotipelto (Stratovarius) and boy it feels good to hear a few new tunes with his magical vocals. Both songs he's interpreting are excellent, powerful and melodic to the bones, but they might remind me Stratovarius a tad too much. The Kimberly interpreted songs are cool too. One of the songs is a cover from Heart called Alone. Although I find it nice to have a more heavier version of that excellent song, I must say that Kimberly don't match the original vocals of this song. But in the end the magical touch of Warmen lays especially on the instrumental tracks, where keyboards leads the way in the most melodic of ways, nicely accompanied by some excellent guitar work, like in the first opus. It may not be very original compared to the first one, but it sure retains the quality and effectiveness. I believe this one is even better than the first, the additional special guests adding some more to the overall feeling. If you're already into Warmen, or if you love instrumental and technical demonstrations (but without compromising melody) then Warmen is definitely for you. Good job !
