Killing songs: The whole record !!!
Finally !!!
After reading many (promising) reviews last year on Avenger
and considering there was no more promos available for metalreviews.com
(that's what the band told us), I finally found this killer at Wacken
(at the famous Metal Market).
Coming straight from the 80's and being totally influenced by Iron
Maiden and Dio, Aska delivers a powerful heavy metal
record that must be in your metal collection if you are a true fan of
the 80's. If you are also a fan of the latest Jacobs Dream or
Jag Panzer, jump on it too!
Excellent production, excellent songs and the high (selling) point
of Aska : a wonderful vocalist. Crown Of Thorns starts
and the singer immediately plays with his vocals and sings like ...
Ronnie James Dio. You could swear and bet all your money this is Dio
singing on Avenger. The song writing is also very influenced
by "little dragon" and all in all, Avenger is a fine
piece of classical heavy metal.
From Iron Maiden to Dio, Aska hasn't yet fully
digested its direct influences and the song-writing is a bit old-fashioned
of course, but who cares as the songs stay in your mind forever once
they are printed in your mind. I can't simply wait for the next album
(and pray this time the band will have a promo for us ;-) ).
If you fall in front of Aska's Avenger, don't forget
to buy it !!!
