Killing songs: All !
Cornerstone must be a new band cause I don't remember earing that name before.
So their album Arrival starts with a nice, fully atmospheric intro. Track 2
called Walked On The Water reveals the true heart of Cornerstone's music. How
to describe it ? I'd say it's good 80's Hard Rock with some few progressive moments. Even so it's really borderline
metal with an excellent production and today's sound. The songs are very quite,
but emotion packed.
They remind me of Dare (first album), Journey, Asia and also a bit of Royal
Hunt (early years). The singer have a very good voice and he almost got me hypnotized...
I try hard to find resemblance but its very difficult because he seems to be
the mix of many great singers... from Coverdale to Bon Jovi, but there's something
more than this. Anyway, let's not loose to much time and say that the guy sings
amazingly. The guitar riffs are simple, but the dosage is perfect for the music.
Solos are standard nice melodic solos, exactly the kind you'd expect from this
style of music. For once, what caught my attention the most was the bass, excellent
work, married to a very atmospheric and smartly used keyboard you get a music
full of emotions sometimes remind me some hollywood movie soundtracks.
That's the kind of CD you can listen to when you need to put your mind at ease
and also if you receive people that don't share your lust for powerful riffs
and strong vocals... typically dates :).
An excellent album, from the first to the last note of music, enchanting, magic
and beautiful... in four words like a thousand : a very good surprise !
Congratulations ! If you like the above mentioned bands or simply good Hard-Rock releases,
then this one is for you.
